Integra Matrix
INTEGRA offers two sheet forms of matrix: Integra and STSG (Step to Solid Grain) which are designed to provide superior coverage for grafting sites. The matrix is available in a wide range of sizes and can be customized for specific sites.
Uses
Depending on the site of the graft and anatomic location, Integra can be applied to skin, fat, fascia, dermis, muscle or bone. Ensure the wound bed is debrided of all necrotic tissues and a vascular supply is established prior to placement of the matrix. Once this is achieved, hemostasis should be maintained through epinephrine, pinpoint electrocautery or thrombin spray.
Infections
In the early stages of healing, infection is a common problem that can be reduced through proper surgical debridement and evacuation of any hematoma or fluid collection. If a site does become infected, aspirate the purulent drainage and treat with topical antibiotics while irrigating five times daily. Cultures should guide antibiotic therapy and the area should not be re-placed until the infection has been adequately treated.
